BEACHES

What is a Beach?

A beach is made of very small loose rock (sand) that gathers at the shore of a body of water. Beaches are created by waves or currents. The sand comes from erosion of rocks both far away from and near the water. Coral reefs are a major source of sand.

Crabs, insects, and birds feed on material left by the waves. Some small animals dig into the sand to get their food. Birds use beaches to nest, and sea turtles lay their eggs on ocean beaches. Sea grasses and other beach plants grow on areas of the beach and dunes where there is not much activity.

How to Protect Your Beach

Things you can do to help protect your beach:

* Dispose of trash properly - use trash cans at the beach or take your trash home with you
* Reduce, reuse and recycle as many as possible of the things you use -- anywhere, anytime
* Cut the rings off plastic six-pack holders so that animals (like fish, turtles or seals) can't get tangled in them — leave no solid plastic loops
* Join local beach, river or stream clean-ups
* Teach others how to practice good beach safety

My Chicago Trip

Chicago is very snowy and windy. I went to Chicago to see houses. I played with snow and had lots of fun. I will be going there again as soon as my papa finds a house. I loved Chicago.

Flash Light

A flashlight is an electric torch. My flashlight is green in color. It is my first flash light. It runs on batteries. It is smaller than my thumb.

Penguin Facts

Penguins live in Antarctica. They eat fish. They slide on thir belly. Macaroni Penguins have yellow feathers on their head. They dive. Fairy Penguins are the smallest Penguins. Rock hopper Penguins hop from rock to rock. Emperor Penguins are the largest Penguins. King Penguins are smaller than Emperor Penguins.

Helicopter Ride

I went for a helicopter ride on my little sister's birthday. It was a lot of fun. It went straight up, took a huge circle and came straight down. It was very loud and windy near the helicopter.

Why does the Parachute glide?

The parachute glides because -

1) It is light weight.

2) The air gets trapped in the hemisphere shape of the parachute, thus slowing down the speed.

Conquest of the Sky

I LOVE reading books. Now a days I am reading - Conquest of the Sky. It starts with the Dream of Flying and ends with A trip on a jet airplane. Its a very interesting book.

Batman Car

This is a toy I have. It has one engine and it runs very fast. It is long and has two wheels,a small and a big one. The Batman is driving the car. I love to play with it.

Snow

Snow is alot of fun. I made colored snow in my science project. It was yellow, red, blue and white. What do you do when it snows.
